About This Project
This project examines the relationship between fashion and identity, specifically within niche online communities. Growing up in a bicultural environment as a Sudanese American, I have always been aware of how appearance and self presentation can communicate deeper meanings about culture, identity, and belonging.
Online platforms have created new spaces where people can explore aesthetics and identites outside of traditional norms. These communities allow individuals to experiment with style in ways that feel authentic to them, even if those expressions are not always accepted.
My muse for this website is Moyium who is a Sudanese American student who uses fashion for expression. Fashion is a big part of who she is, and believes its a big part of who we are.
